Occasional Opportunities
We support the ministry of Young Life here in Prince William County. In addition to our monthly financial support, our members have also been active as participants in the local board of Young Life. We have also contributed to specific needs of this outreach to students in our county, such as the sound system used by Young Life for its gatherings. We remain convinced that Kevin and Kelly Burgess and their co-workers are having an important impact on the youth in our public schools.
We support the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship in Northern Virginia. This ministry to youth in our region has been very effecting in winning young people to Christ and in setting up a variety of clubs and classes where little ones can learn about the good news of Christ. Our church has also helped to fund the CEF booth at the annual Prince William County faire, where hundreds of young people--and adults--have heard the message of Christ and responded to it. Wayne and Diane Rautio lead this ministry and our own members participate in this work as well.
We support the ministry of Carenet Crisis Pregnancy Centers. The Christian effort seeks to help young girls and women deal with unexpected pregnancies and show them how there are better options than abortion. It seeks to win them to faith in Christ and to help them deal with the new life which has begun within them. Our church contributes monthly to this work and also participates in the annual "Change for Life" and "Walk for Life" programs of Carenet. We also have members who are active in this endeavor.
Our congregation is also attuned to occasional mission opportunities which arise during the year. Sometimes we have supported short-term foreign mission trips which seek to provide both material and spiritual help to churches in foreign lands. We believe in such foreign missions, and we also have supported domestic evangelistic programs and efforts, particularly where current or former members have been part of an outreach effort.
